Partnership between Sand Springs Chamber and City of Sand Springs

City and Sand Springs Chamber to partner on Business Incubator Project!

The City of Sand Springs has identified a former city office space for use as an economic development tool in the downtown district of Sand Springs. At a recent Sand Springs Municipal Authority meeting, trustees approved a lease arrangement with the Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce to occupy the building located at 109 N. Garfield. The building was formerly used by the city’s Public Works Administrative office space.

The new lease declares a venture to create economic development through the development of jobs and small businesses in the downtown district. The seven-thousand square foot building is intended to be made available to the Chamber for the creation of a business incubator model and co-working space, thereby allowing small business start-ups to occur.

“We are excited to bring this opportunity forward for our community through this unique partnership with the Sand Springs Chamber,” stated City Manager Elizabeth Gray. “We hope that in the months ahead small business start ups which could not otherwise afford office space can gain a foothold, and then outgrow the facility as they become a mainstay in the Sand Springs community.”
To help jump start this partnership, the Sand Springs Chamber lease spells out a simple $1/year rent for the building. A portion of the proceeds generated by the Chamber’s operations will be directed into a long-term building maintenance fund to help take care of the facility. The building offers more than a dozen small office units, restrooms, parking and a lobby.

“This opportunity is invaluable and will make a mark on this community,” said Kristen Cepak, Sand Springs Chamber President. “The Chamber will roll out our plans for the site over the next several months. There are a lot of preparations in creating a business incubator for it to be successful, and we want to do it right. Co-working suites will be available as well.”
