Vocalist JANET RUTLAND will present a concert of sentimental favorites for the 2014 Generosity Ball Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Case Community Center, 1050 W. Wekiwa Road in Sand Springs. Rutland is a ‘75 CPHS graduate and a 2012 inductee of the Sandite Hall of Fame. Rutland discovered a passion for theater when she was cast in American Theatre Company’s 1997 production of Always. . . Patsy Cline. She’s performed in numerous plays since, including the TATE award winning The Unmentionables by Playhouse Tulsa and Sand Springs Community Theatre’s productions of 1940’s Radio Hour and Quilters.
Rutland’s popular cabaret shows have become a mainstay of the Tulsa Performing Arts Center’s SummerStage. She recently presented a Sixties revue – her tenth show for that series. Rutland is a featured vocalist at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame and has performed in venues throughout the state including the historic Coleman Theatre in Miami.
“I’m looking forward to being a part of the Generosity Ball this year,” Rutland offered. “The effort of caring Sandites benefits Sand Springs Community Services which helps local citizens in need of food and basic services. The GB has become a beautiful tradition and an event that brings joy to the community.”
Rutland will sing a mix of vintage jazz, pop and country music with some promised “Patsy” tunes.
The Generosity Ball is Sand Springs’ premier holiday social event and fund raiser. Proceeds will benefit Sand Springs Community Services, to help with its mission, “to assist Sand Springs citizens who are experiencing economic crisis by providing services, resources, education and referrals to improve their immediate quality of life and encourage them in their journey towards self-sufficiency.”
